How I Turned a KSh 10K Loan Into a Hustle That Changed My Life
I remember the moment.
My M-PESA balance read KSh 10,034.
It felt like a lot — but deep down, I knew it wasn’t mine. It was a loan. And I had no plan.
At first, I wanted to spend it.
New shoes, some nyama choma with the boys, maybe even impress a girl.
But I stopped myself.
Why? Because I was tired of being broke. Tired of repeating the same cycle.
So I asked myself:
“What can I start with what I already have?”
I knew I could design. I’d done a few posters and simple logos before.
So I used KSh 2,000 for bundles and taught myself better design using Canva and YouTube.
My first poster earned me KSh 300.
Then came a logo for KSh 500.
A custom love letter design — KSh 200.
Little by little, I started making money from my skill.
In three weeks, I had made nearly KSh 6,000 — and my original 10K was still safe.
Now I use my talent to help others — posters, business flyers, love animations, whatever people need.
The lesson?
You don’t need a lot of money.
You need clarity, confidence, and action.
Sometimes the flex isn’t in what you buy.
It’s in what you build.
